Dear Parent and/or Guardian:

As many of you are aware, the Governor of Illinois is attempting to slow the progression of the Coronavirus (COVID - 19) by taking several actions, one of which is the closing down all schools in the state.  Please know that the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Department of Public Health are working hard to keep you safe and healthy.

Administrators and staff here at Neoga are also working hard to ensure that your student’s education continues.  While we are off of school for the next two weeks, please take this time to ensure your health and well being by staying home as much as possible.

If you must go out in public, please remember to wash your hands as soon as you return home.  CDC recommends that social distancing of at least 6 feet will help to slow the progression of COVID - 19.

While we understand this is frustrating to have to stay at home as much as possible, please keep in mind that this is for your safety as well as the safety of those in our community.  The healthcare system is able to handle several cases, but if there are thousands upon thousands all at once, it could overwhelm our hospitals and clinics.

We ask that you enjoy this time at home with your student.  We ask that you help them stay active in learning by utilizing books, board games, and online learning activities listed on our school website as well as any paper packets that have been sent home.

Please know that Neoga School District is in constant communication with ISBE and IDPH and we will keep you updated as we learn new information.

For now, I can’t stress enough the importance of staying in, staying healthy, and washing your hands.  Please cover your nose when you sneeze and cover your mouth when you cough. Please have your students do the same.  It is important to remember that if you have a fever, cough, and/ or shortness of breath that you call your doctor immediately.

By taking these precautions we can slow the progression of COVID - 19 and stay healthy!

Sincerely, yours in health,

Mrs. Shari Lankow BSN, RN
